Lower limb injuries in sprinting and change of direction sports (specifically ACL and knee injuries, as well as hamstring, calf and hip / groin injuries) cost an individual athlete and sporting teams dearly in terms of games missed, and with well-known long term health implications in the years to come. Re-injury risk also commonly plagues return to sport – with most reported literature suggesting that 8-30% of athletes who suffer an ACL injury will suffer a subsequent ACL re-injury when they return to sport. This is a global statistic that needs to improve.

Like most things in life, prevention is better than cure, but time is often scarce and needs to be utilized in the most efficient manner possible. Each individual is also different, and this needs to be accounted for in programming. When returning from an injury, simply ‘surviving’ rehab is not a good indicator of progress, nor re-injury risk.

Developed by Tim McGrath (PhD) as part of his post-doctoral research and as a culmination of 15-years experience in professional sport, Pitch Ready is a precise testing system available in Australia, the UK and the USA which utilizes cloud-based software to identify clinically meaningful strategies to reduce known injury risk factors, as well as promotion of ‘gold-standard’ injury-prevention programming for lower limb injury of the ankle, knee, hip and groin. In this manner the best ‘bang for buck’ strategies can be utilized in an attempt to prevent either a first-time occurrence of injury, and manage known risk factors prior to return to sport during athlete rehabilitation for prevention of secondary injury.

Pitch Ready takes careful utilization of the latest scientific literature, as well as cutting-edge clinical practice for lower limb rehabilitation. The objective of this testing is to provide athletes and rehab / conditioning staff with definitive individualized and progressive information they can use in the real-world to help maximize potential for injury prevention and successful return to sport.

Pitch Ready Provides:
  • Research-derived and validated injury reduction strategies
  • Cutting-edge data analysis
  • Maximize rehabilitation efficiency
  • Feedback on appropriate safe return to sport
Services Available

With Pitch Ready we are able to offer precise testing for athletes both pre-injury for risk stratification and also post-injury to maximize recovery potential. This process forms one of the most rigorous return-to-sport testing systems available anywhere. Services include:

  • PITCH READY PRO – whole squad pre-season screening and individualized injury prevention programming utilizing capacity-based performance testing and 3D biomechanics
  • PITCH READY CLINIC – staged recovery for an athlete recovering from a lower-limb injury
  • PITCH READY BASELINE – simplified pre-season testing for cost-effective injury reduction strategies
  • PITCH READY RTS – gold standard return to sport (RTS) testing after lower limb injury utilizing capacity-based performance testing and 3D biomechanics
